Osman Bukari's hopes of securing a place in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League round of 16 has petered out after Red Star Belgrade suffered a home defeat to RB Leipzig.

The Ghana attacker was in full time action for the Serbian giants at the Stadion Rajko Mitić as the 9-time Mozzart Serbian SuperLiga title winners succumbed to a 2-1 home loss to the German Bundesliga outfit.

Bukari's side are in Group G which features English champions Manchester City, Swiss side Young Boys Bern, and RB Leipzig.

Going into the matchday 4 clash on Tuesday night, Bukari and his teammates knew they had to claim the maximum points to stand a chance of securing qualification to the next round.

However, the result has left them with just 1 point from their 4 games and with Leipzig securing qualification alongside Manchester City, Red Star's chance are over.

Bukari, who moved to Red Star from French side Nantes, has scored 2 goals in 4 games and provided an assist in the competition.

He scored against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium before netting an 88th minute equaliser against Young Boys and winning the MVP award of the game.
