Journalists in Comoros have widely condemned police in the country for shooting and injuring a supporter during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying game against Ghana on Tuesday evening.

According to social media handle Comoros Football 269, six other fans have been left injured due to the action of the police.

Over 10,000 spectators were at the Stade Omnisports to watch the titanic clash which ended in a 1-0 victory for the Southeastern African nation.

Details of the incident have not yet come public however reports claim the supporter is in a critical condition.

"No one should be shot while watching a football match. We learned that a supporter was shot and injured by a member of the police. His vital prognosis is said to be in jeopardy according to the latest information from journalist Faïza Soulé Youssouf," the post on X said.

"There were also 6 injured. We condemn this brutal act. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families," it was added.
