The President of the Africa Armwrestling Federation is confident Ghana hosting a successful competition next August.

Ghana is poised to host one of the largest World Armwrestling Championships in the history of the competition, according to African Armwrestling Federation President Charles Osei Asibey.

The West African nation will host the 45th edition of the competition in August 2024 in Accra.

Ghana won the hosting right of the global event after beating Egypt and Bulgaria in a keenly contest race in Almaty, Kazakhstan in August.

After receiving an overwhelming endorsement from the World Armwrestling Federation delegates.

Speaking on Asempa FM's SportsNite program, Osei Asibey is confident that Ghana will host one of the largest armwrestling events in the history of the sport.

"We are bringing a lot of international sports followers to Ghana next year. We aspire to host one of the biggest events in the history of the World Armwrestling Federation," he told Enoch Worlanyo on Asempa FM.

Ghana will become the second African country to host the World Armwrestling Championship after South Africa hosted the global showpiece in Durban in 2004.
