Pep Guardiola has reignited his interest in snatching Ghanaian youth talent Kobbie Mainoo from bitter-rivals Manchester United, according to latest reports.

However, the Red Devils remain relaxed about the situation as they feel the 18-year-old will not depart the club where he has been for the past 9 years.

Mainoo went to the Man City academy before turning 9 but ended up at Manchester United where he has made his Premier League debut this season after featuring in the first team last season in different competitions.

The Manchester Evening News understands Mainoo chose to join United's academy and although City have attempted to lure him away at ages when it would have been possible, he's chosen to stay each time.

Fresh reports emerged detailing City's interest in Mainoo on Friday afternoon but their admiration of him is nothing new.

Mainoo recently signed a new long-term contract until the summer of 2027.

He recently returned from injury as he warmed the bench for Erik ten Hag's side in their 1-0 away triumph over Fulham.
