The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association have decided to terminate the appointment of Chris Hughton as head of the Black Stars, according to several media reports.

The 64-year-old was appointed head coach of the Black Stars in February 2023 with several speculations claiming his assistant George Boateng will be appointed in an interim capacity.

While the reports are yet to be confirmed by the Ghana FA, ace broadcast journalist Bright Kankam Boadu has revealed why the GFA wants to fire the former Newcastle United manager.

According to the award-winning journalist on Kumasi-based Pure FM, the decision-making body of the GFA are unhappy with the squad submitted by Chris Hughton for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series double-header against Madagascar and Comoros.

Kankam further revealed that the English-born tactician has made wholesome changes to the squad by dropping several key players in the squad for the job.

Top GFA officials have openly criticised Hughton and it is obvious that they had always wanted him out.
