Former German U21 international Stephan Ambrosius marked his full debut for Ghana's Black Stars in a 2-0 loss in an international friendly on Saturday night in the United States of America.

Ambrosius, 24, was handed a starting berth by head coach Chris Hughton and he lasted the entire period of the game at the Bank of American Stadium in Charlotte, USA.

The 1.82m tall defender turned down an invitation from the West Africans in March 2021 in favour of a place in the German U21 squad.

The Hamburg-born went ahead to make 2 appearances for the Europeans at the U21 level.

However, he switched his nationality in July 2022 and officially marked his debut in September 2023 in an international friendly against Liberia when he came off the bench to feature in a 3-1 triumph for Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Mexico in a game that was decided in the second half.

PSV Eindhoven forward Hirving Lozano carved the Ghana defense open at the 57th-minute mark after latching on to a loose pass inside the 18-yard area.

26-year-old Cruz Azul midfielder Uriel Antuna fed on a through pass from Saul Valera to double the lead for the North Americans 18 minutes from full-time.
